Brandon Campbell is an Atlanta-based designer and illustrator whose work bridges the nostalgic elegance of mid-century commercial art with the immediacy of contemporary image-making. He invites you to follow along as he creates original artwork, launches new projects, and appears at select events stay connected via his mailing list to receive the latest.
Born and raised in Westport, Connecticut, Brandon grew up immersed in an illustrative environment: his father was an illustrator, and the household was lined with art supplies, illustration annuals, and late-night trips to deliver finished paintings to agencies. He went on to study graphic design at SUNY Purchase in New York, where motion graphics and animation piqued his interest and set him on a path of visual storytelling.
At his core, Brandon works with pen and ink often using fountain or dip pens, brush markers, and a reduced color palette. His aesthetic is shaped by mid-century modern illustration and editorial art: bold graphic forms, simplified subjects, expressive linework, and spontaneous energy. He says he often foregoes preliminary pencil sketches, choosing instead to dive directly into ink to preserve an immediacy of mark and gesture. The subject matter ranges from homes, street scenes, stylized portraits, to cocktail culture and classic Hollywood all rendered with a nostalgic yet fresh perspective.
During his time at our Artist-in-Residency program in Saint Lucia, Brandon immersed himself in the resort’s landscape, drawing daily from the ever-changing light across the Pitons, the hand-craftedartistry of the suites, and the vibrant energy of the staff village. His residency produced a new body of work inspired by Ladera’s one-of-a-kind experience nature, craft, and friendly hospitality that defines us.
