Wedding Formalities
We will be happy to take care of all of the St. Lucia legal procedures
involved for you. We simply need a few items:
Three weeks before your wedding, Ladera needs to have received the following documents (either by mail or by fax):
- Copies of birth certificates or passports of both parties
- Divorce Decree of Absolution with Official Seal or Stamp of the Court (if one or both parties have been divorced)
- A letter stating each person’s profession and address
When you arrive in St. Lucia, you must bring the following original documents:
- Passport or birth certificate. If you enter St. Lucia with a passport, you must ensure that your passport gets stamped by Immigration. If you enter St Lucia with a birth certificate, you must ensure that Immigration stamps the bottom part of your arrival form, which you should present to us upon your arrival at Ladera.
- Divorce Decree of Absolution (if one or both parties have been divorced).
- If any of the above documents are not in English, it must be translated and certified by a Notary Public.
Before you arrive in St. Lucia, we will send the copies of the documents
to our lawyer in Castries (capital of St. Lucia); the processed application
is then sent back to Ladera. Once the couple arrives, the original
documents must be presented, and the application must be signed in
the presence of the "Justice of the Peace" in the town of
Soufriere. The documents are then sent back to the lawyer in Castries
to be submitted to the Attorney General of St Lucia for approval and
signature. The approved license is then sent back to Soufriere where
a marriage ceremony can be performed by the Marriage Officer. To allow
us enough time to process this, it is your responsibility to make
sure that we have the copies of the document at least three weeks
before arrival. You must be "On Island" three full working
days before the ceremony (Saturdays, Sundays and local holidays do
not count).
