Ladera Adds Two More Honors to its Awards Recognition
Condé Nast Traveler’s “Gold List” and Condé Nast Johansens
February 1, 2006, Soufrière, St. Lucia, West Indies – Only two months after Ladera was voted the Best hotel in the world by Condé Nast Traveler, more prestigious honors have been bestowed on the resort. This month Ladera was named “Most Excellent Hotel” in the Atlantic, Pacific and the Caribbean Islands by Condé Nast Johansens, the international luxury travel guide of premium resorts, hotels and spas. The nominees were selected from 285 properties featured in their 2006 guide by a team of inspectors, readers and hotel guests.
What is more, Ladera scored a perfect 100 across the board in the categories of Design, Location, Rooms and Food in the Condé Nast Traveler “Gold List”, appearing in the January 2006 issue. The “Gold List” is developed from the Reader’s Choice Awards, whereby the scores are evaluated, figures are fleshed out and overall scores are put into a “Gold List” of the world’s best places to stay.
“Ladera is honored to be singled out once again by two such highly regarded, influential publications in the U.S., as well as the United Kingdom,” says General Manager Robert Stewart. “It is always such positive reinforcement to receive this level of recognition and our entire team is proud of the accolades. Most important, it sends a clear message about St. Lucia as the top destination in the Caribbean and we invite everyone to share in the celebration.”
Ladera opened in 1992. It is located in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean and uniquely situated on a ridge at 1,100 feet overlooking the volcanic Piton mountains, the Caribbean Sea and the Soufrière valley. Ladera is known for its distinctive eco-lodge architecture, built with Caribbean timbers and modeled on luxury tree-house living and a relaxed, barefoot lifestyle. Guestrooms were intentionally built without a fourth wall, yet were designed to be both sheltered and completely private. The design affords spectacular sunset views and unobstructed star gazing at night.
Ladera is an eco-lodge style property with six villas and 21 suites, each modeled on luxurious tree house living and located at an altitude of 1,100 feet above sea level feet and surrounded by the lush St. Lucian rainforest. Since November 2006, Ladera was named the "Best of the Best" Hotel in the world by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler and the #2 hotel in the Caribbean by Travel +Leisure. The guest rooms were intentionally designed with just three walls, affording spectacular, unobstructed views, while remaining sheltered, safe, and completely private. www.ladera.com
